Mata Amritanandamayi and Sai books

Every morning while praying, I try to get a topic to write about, and today, the flash was about Amma - Amrithanandamayi. Rema and I had been to Amma's ashramam at Amrithapuri which is in Karunagappilli near Kayamkulam. We had to go a small distance by a country boat to reach the Ashramam.

Once we reached there, we were very hungry, went straight to the dining hall and had hot Kanji and puzhukku with relish. Then we went around the place. As we reached the place in the morning, the crowd was less, and we got a temporary accommodation above the Kaali temple. Mainly we needed only toilet facility, as our stay was only till evening. Next we went to Amma's KUTIL (hut) for that special darshan. It was a small hall with a thatched roof. In about an hour, we reached the front of the line, face to face with AMMA. She hugged me and while hugging she said, "Amma sankalpicholam. Nalla kutty aanallo". Rema too was hugged by Amma.

Then we went, sat in the Kaali temple hall and sat there for some time after praying to Kaali Devi. We had no more work there, so we returned to Kayamkulam station. We ate something and waited for the train which came by midnight. Reached Calicut in the morning. We saw Amma in Calicut for the first time in a friend's place - very close darhsan and she just touched by tapping many while walking past. Then she went straight to a temple in the beach where a large crowd was waiting for her darshan.

Amma later built a new Matthom at Calicut Silver hills, where Amma visited every January. We had gone there many times and had Darshan and hugging. Amma conducts Sahasranamarchana, sani pooja and others rituals every time She visits. She started a school also for small children.

We adore Sathya Sai as God and Amrithanandamayi as Mahadevi. They are filled with the supreme power and knowledge. Miracles are only their visiting cards. It is each one's prerogative to call them God. Both Sai and Amma do stupendous service activities all over the world - difficult to measure. Wherever they go, multitudes collect to hear and see them and are transformed into better beings. That itself is enough to understand them as God. There had been innumerable instances of internal transformation just by a look of Sathya Sai. His presence in many places at the same time has been recorded by many writers. Even great scientists like Dr Bhagavantham were flabbergasted by His miraculous actions.

I will suggest a few books for knowing more about Swami: Howard Murphet's Man of Miracles, Lights of home, Sai Baba Avatar, Sai - inner views and insights, Where the road ends and many others. There are many more, like Loving God, Sathyam Sivam Sundaram 4 volumes by Kasturi etc to fill your library - not only in English but in all languages of the world. There is a book shop at Prasanthi Nilayam where you can buy books.

About my brothers

As mentioned previously , we were originally 14 siblings. 5 died - these were all my elder sisters - much before I was born. I have only heard about them. So my parents were earnestly praying for a girl and then Kamakshichechi was born 1934. Eldest was Ramankutty chettan employed in the registration department. Though his was a small job he was very satisfied and happy mainly because of Karthyayani chedathi amma who managed their family very well. Edathiyamma (Elder sister-in-law) was our eldest maternal uncle's (Krishnamman's) daughter. She was very beautiful and theirs was a love marriage. Their eldest child was Valsala, then Ambika and later Malini and last their last was son Rajan. He stays at their house now. Malini had CA (cancer) and is no more. Ambika is happily married to Siddhan in Bangalore. Valsala was married to Vijayan from FACT . Vijayan expired a few years back due to a cardiac attack. They have 3 girls and a boy. All well settled. PSN - Prasanthi Nilayam

Swami called this place Prasanthi Nilayam - perhaps because Swami wanted all who come here to have Peace and Santhi - that will promote Bhakthi which in turn gives Salvation or MUKTHI. So this is the trick that attracts people all over the world to PSN. There are lots of regulations if you want to be in PSN. Ladies and gents are segregated here. Ladies and gents have to cover their whole body, and no exhibitionism of any sort is allowed. Discipline and strict queuing everywhere. When Swami was there, sitting for Darsan had a fool-proof queuing system. They will make you sit in lines, which will be many in number. The controller will bring a bagful of lots from which the first person will take a lot, and like that all the first people in each line will take lots. When all are ready, number 1 will be called and that line can go in - and like that all lines. Father, temples and Chakranysharadi

Father There was a request from a friend to write more about my father"s association with the Cochin royal family. My father was a munsiff and the king ( Madiraasiyil theeppetta thampuran ) Rama Varma selected my father, noting his honesty, straight-forwardness, integrity and other good qualities. The King wanted him for all purposes and made him Sarvaadhi kaari. He held that post for 14 long years. Mother used to tell the stories of life inside the Kottaram (palace) to us later. Our whole family had a cushy life then. Food and accommodation were free and whatever food was made for the King had to be tasted by Sarvaadhi. Father could have saved a lot, but he felt he had to repay all the loans his uncle had brought upon himself for looking after them in childhood. Even the Pisharoty Munsiff's house had to be pawned for repaying the loans. So finally my father didn't have much savings, which caused him to have depressive illness.  I remember him feeling sorry for that state...
